Since my last post, the Olympics have come almost full circle, as there are only a few days left to enjoy the passion and desire exhibited by these world-class athletes in their pursuit of gold. I hope you’ve been enjoying the excitement and diversity of the sporting events as much as I have… archery, badminton, table tennis, handball, skateboarding, equestrian, rowing and, what is sure to be the highlight of the games for me, BREAKING later today!
The only issue I’ve had with the Olympics is the timing – Paris is, after all, a third of the way around your beautiful planet of Earth, so watching events live has been challenging. Catching the replays later in the evening is the route I’ve been taking, though there have been occasions when news of the winners has been leaked within my range of hearing.
This was precisely the turn of events (pun intended) just the other day, so that night, instead of tuning in to the Olympics, I tried my tentacles at surfing. No, not Olympic surfing, although Tahiti does look gorgeous. I stayed off the board, slithered up to my relaxation platform and did some channel surfing.
As I glided through channels like a surfer in the pipeline of a wave, I found myself watching one of several channels dedicated to Westerns. Very intrigued by the big hats, jangling spurs and the roping skills exhibited by the prairie folk, I took all of it in as an educational endeavor. You see, this “Old West” culture is one I’ve yet to learn, and with the 2024 myCUmortgage Partner Conference now appearing on the horizon, I thought I better start learning the ropes, or in this case, the lassos.
You see, the theme of this year’s event is Mortgages Wanted: Trailblazing the Mortgage Frontier. Considering the challenges associated with the credit union mortgage market over the previous couple of years, this is a very fitting theme for the conference. We are all facing new and unfamiliar challenges in this evolving frontier and unsure exactly what is coming up beyond the rim of the range before us. Well, let me tell you, partners (I’m reciting this in my best John Wayne western drawl), the cowpokes at myCUmortgage are ready at the ranch and have the horses saddled up for you to trailblaze a path through the mortgage frontier.
Scheduled for October 15-17 at the Marriott Bunkhouse (a.k.a., the Marriott at the University of Dayton), the agenda for year’s event was created based on previous attendee feedback as well as industry insights and forecasts by your trusted home loan partners, the experts at myCUmortgage. It’s a cowboy stew made up of the best ingredients:
- Meet Up Reception at the Canopy Creek Corral, sponsored by Northwest Union
- Opening and Closing Remarks from New myCUmortgage President, Ben Rempe
- Keynote Presentation with Country Music Artist & Author Jimmy Wayne
- Your Compliance Sheriff, Michael Christians, sponsored by Arch MI
- Ask the Experts: Mining for Mortgage Gold in the Wild West
- Dedicated Sessions for our CU Select and Prospective Partners
